Medical Practice

In 1976 in Bogota, Colombia, medical doctors went on strike for 52 days, resulting in death rates dropping 35% (fewer people dying). Also in that year in Los Angeles, CA, medical doctors went on strike to protest the high malpractice insurance premiums they began seeing, and the result of a survey of 17 hospitals found the death rate dropped 18% (I personally remember the news item on this). In 1973 in Israel, medical doctors went on strike for one month and the death rate dropped 50%. It would be very interesting indeed, to see if the recent medical doctor strike in Korea of a few years back saved peoples lives as well.
