Chiropractic is Based on the Following Principles:
1. The body is self-healing and self regulating.
2. The nervous system is the internal controller of the body while the bodies electro-magnetic field is the external controller. These two systems control the function of all the organs, tissues and cells of the body.
3. Any interference of the nervous system inhibits 100% functioning.
4. Timing, toxicity, and/or thoughts cause interference of the nervous system. This causes impingement of the nerves from this level of the spine, and affects the organs, tissues and cells supplied by this specific nerve(s).
5. The Chiropractic Adjustment removes the interference and allows the body to restore proper function at these levels.
Who Goes to a Chiropractor? (I hope you've seen this enough to get the idea that people consult with a chiropractic doctor even when they are feeling fine)
- people with back pain, neck pain, headaches, or some type of symptoms
- people with conditions that have not responded to traditional approaches
- anyone interested in maintaining their health and well-being
- children with symptoms
- children for spinal check ups at developmental phases
- anyone with sports injuries
- anyone trying to perform their normal daily activities with more flexibility and movement
- anyone understanding that the nervous system controls the function and coordination of the entire body
- anyone interested in functioning at 100% of their optimum health
- seniors who are looking to stay fit and flexible through the next phases of life
EXAMPLES;
- world class athletes, such as Donovan Bailey, who require maximum coordination and balance throughout their spine and nervous system
- computer programmers, who generally work at stations with poor ergonomic design
- musicians, in awkward positions with their instruments
- small children who walk, fall, play, etc.
- nurses
- school age children who are growing rapidly
- and the list goes on, and on, and on....
Why Chiropractic?
Because Chiropractors function on the health and well being of the entire person. It is our mission to help each individual experience overall balance of their nervous system so that their bodies can function at 100% of their ability and potential. We approach health from a true health philosophy versus the "disease care model" that has been so prevalent in society over the last 100 years. We do not believe that better health comes from better chemistry, but that better health comes from within. Chiropractors are leading the health care revolution, and are educating and empowering all our patients to better understand health and the active role they can take.
It is important to understand that HEALTH is the "optimum physical, mental and social well-being; not merely the absence of disease and infirmity." There is a natural health continuum that starts at birth with each of us having our full potential. Through physical, chemical, and emotional stresses we experience various states of dis-ease, which a chiropractor can identify as subluxations in the spine or interference at higher brain centers. If left without correction this can lead to disease/pathology, at first with no symptoms, but if left will eventually lead to full symptoms or pathology. The final stage in the continuum is death. Our traditional system of "disease care" enters into this continuum once any of us have symptoms or pathology. True health care requires detection of any dis-ease in the system, or more importantly even earlier at the level where we are dealing with various stresses. Because of the importance of education around the area of life and lifestyle stresses, we partner with many other holistic health practitioners to teach and educate our patients about physical/chemical and emotional stresses.
The foundation of the chiropractic profession is the detection and correction of the vertebral subluxation. The vertebral subluxation is the loss of normal alignment and motion of spinal bones, impairing the function of the nervous system. A chiropractic adjustment is a specific correction of the subluxation to improve nervous system function thus restoring optimum health.
Optimal health and expression of life are dependant upon the proper function of the spine and nervous system, free of interference. A Chiropractor is a doctor who promotes whole body health and the body's innate ability to heal itself.
